The pumpkins are here, Movie in the Patch is Sunday and the Fall Festival is just 11 days away, October 22. Time seems to be moving faster every day.
DPUMC has started a new Children’s Sunday School Program. Sunday we started a preschool Sunday School Class, awarded the 3rd Grade bibles and had a total of 22 children 5th grade and below in Sunday School. Please continue to pray for this ministry and for those who have stepped forward to form teaching teams. The Staff Parish Relations Committee is moving quickly to find a new Director of Children’s Ministry.
Your Youth Program is reaching out to the community with several youth inviting their friends to Sunday night programs. This week 16 youth played volley ball, ate “sloppy joes” and had a devotional lesson on living in the Spirit with the fruits of “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-26). Six Youth attended Sunday School and six attended the 6th Grade Confirmation Class.
United Methodist serve the local community and the wider world through our apportionment giving. Our annual church budget is $687,308. A portion of our annual budget, $57,112 (8.3%) is sent to the Texas Annual Conference to fund the work and mission of the worldwide United Methodist Church. Year to date we have been able to pay $17,043 or 29.8% of our commitment to the global ministry of the United Methodist Church.
DPUMC has set up a secure way for you to make contributions online. Through this link you may make a contribution to the ministry of the church or pay fees for special programs and/or camps. Visit the church web site at www.dpumc.org to learn more.
Thank you for your continued faithfulness with your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. It is through your active discipleship that DPUMC is able to be the church that God is calling us to be.

DPUMC’s Grief Support Ministry is a safe place where participants will explore the questions related to the grief process, hear from others who have worked through grief and explore how the Christian faith gives hope to all who grieve the death of a family member or close friend.
The group will meet in Room 115 on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. beginning on September 12, 2016.
The Grief Support course is designed to provide participants with resources to work through the grief process. Trained chaplains and counselors will make presentations every other week and answer questions posed by participants. Each of our guest speakers have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Please review the outline to see the topics and questions to be addressed. Pastor Paul will lead a biblical study and offer teaching on specific types of prayer in the intervening weeks. Pastor Paul will be present each week to lead the group and introduce our guest speakers.
The 8 week cycle will follow this weekly format:
7:00 Opening Prayer and Introductions
7:10 Presentation (speaker or studies)
7:40 Group Discussion / Sharing Time
8:00 Closing Prayer
While it is hoped that participants will commit to the full study, you do not have to attend each session. You may attend any and all sessions that interest you. Please feel free to invite others to attend sessions you believe they will find helpful. Our main goal is to help people understand and move through the grief process.
Please prayerfully consider your participation in this study.
